This practical session for development staff and board members
provides the background needed to assess the appropriate
conditions to start an endowment building effort. The session
offers guidance for developing an endowment action program that
meets the needs and resources of each nonprofit organization.
Participants will learn how to integrate long-term endowment
building into their other development responsibilities in ways
that will not overwhelm them or their organizations.
Target Audience:
The target audience for this presentation is fundraisers and
volunteers of all levels of experience who are interested in
starting or revitalizing an endowment for their organizations.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
- Discuss the importance of building an endowment and
assessing the organizations readiness and commitment to building
endowed funds
- Create the appropriate endowment structure, policies and
procedures
- Use a working vocabulary applicable to the endowment
building field and offer a compelling case for the endowment
- Develop an endowment action program tailored to the
organization
About the Presenter:
Diana S. Newman, CFRE, has more than 20 years
of expertise as a fundraiser, planned giving officer, writer,
group facilitator and consultant. She is the author of Nonprofit
Essentials: Endowment Building, published by John Wiley & Sons
in 2005 and Opening Doors: Pathways to Diverse Donors, published
by Jossey-Bass in 2002 and winner of the 2003 Skystone Ryan
Prize for Research on Fundraising and Philanthropy.
**Participation in a live session or use of an audiotape of the
program qualifies for 1.5 points toward CFRE continuing
education requirements.**
