Our core values are the foundation for achieving
the chapter's mission and are made visible by the
daily interactions of development professionals.
Integrity
We act ethically, communicate honestly,
and behave responsibly to build and maintain the
trust of donors and the community.
Compassion
We believe that compassion entails not
only the desire to alleviate suffering, but the
passion and commitment to become involved and make a
difference.
Service to Others
We appreciate the generosity of spirit
that leads people to make a commitment to work for a
better future and improve the quality of life for
all.
Balance
We recognize the importance of creating
and maintaining balance in all aspects of life; in
finding balance and nurturing ourselves, we can
continue to be of service to others.

Preamble
As fundraisers, each of us is dedicated to ensuring that our
organization's constituency has the resources it requires.
As an AFP chapter, we are excellent at education, recognition
and advocacy of philanthropy.
Our AFP vision needs to address raising the level of
philanthropy in our community so that our constituencies are
served to the highest level possible. We, in turn, can achieve
this Vision through the expertise acknowledged in our Chapter
Mission and by the Core Values to which we subscribe.
Vision 2010
We will significantly influence the culture of philanthropy in
Orange County. By 2010, our collective efforts will
substantially increase financial and voluntary generosity
throughout the community
Bold Steps to Accomplish the Vision
- Increase the number of skilled AFP members who practice the
highest fundraising ethics, to 450 members.
- Establish vibrant educational partnerships with all
community sectors involved in nonprofit philanthropy - a minimum
of six partnerships by 2010.
- Launch an active, well-orchestrated public relations
campaign to communicate the benefits of giving.
Founded in 1960, AFP (formerly NSFRE) advances philanthropy
through its more than 26,000 members in 183 chapters throughout
the United States, Canada, Mexico, and China.
The Orange County Chapter, founded in 1983, provides an
educational and networking forum through monthly lunch meetings,
an annual conference and events.
The close to 300 members of the Orange County Chapter of AFP
are professional fundraisers, executive directors, consultants,
volunteers and service providers.
