Redefining Fundraising Success Through Analytics

  • There is a fundamental change emerging in 21st century fundraising. This change is driven by the most important component of the philanthropic partnership - our donors. The most successful fundraising institutions are redefining success through the incorporation of sophisticated systems for understanding their donors and prospects and using this data to guide strategy. This session will explain analytics and describe how it can drive success in your fundraising programs.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will:

    • Learn how the fundraising industry is advancing its effectiveness through data mining and metrical analysis.

    • Discover new approaches to identifying and prioritizing prospects for major giving.

    • Develop new ideas for segmentation.

Target Audience:

  • Mid-level to advanced level (3-10 years).

About the Presenter:

  • Joshua M. Birkholz is the director of DonorCast, the analytics division of the national fundraising consulting firm, Bentz Whaley Flessner. He has built data mining and fundraising production analysis solutions for leading universities, medical centers, and cultural nonprofits throughout the country. Prior to coming to Bentz Whaley Flessner, Mr. Birkholz engineered the data mining program for the University of Minnesota Foundation. He is a published author and a sought-after speaker in the field of analytics, prospecting, and constituent relationship management. Mr. Birkholz earned his Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University-St. Paul and his Master of Arts in arts administration from St. Mary's University in Winona, Minnesota.
